American Idol Styles Hair For You!!

“American Idol Styles Hair”I must admit, American Idol 2009 has flown by and I’ve missed more episodes than I’ve seen . . . and I now see, American Idol styles hair for us! Wow, I guess it goes to show how much they believe viewers are interested in American Idol hairstyles!

Well that’s nice, they bring us their hairdresser, Raissa Patton, and she shows us how she creates coifs for some American Idol contestants as well as their fans. Obviously, it was, Garnier Fructis Style product line, who won the bid to be the product line of choice when American Idol styles hair!  But, someone had to win and that being said, looks like Garnier does the job well! I’ve never tried their products but these contestants certainly have put these products through the test . . . hot lights, dancing and enough stress to make anyone’s hair go weak or fall out!

So if you’re interested in the “how-to’s of creating some of these American Idol hairstyles, Raissa does a great job of showing what hair care products are needed and what tools she used. Check out her recreation of this fan from her natural wavy/curly hair type into a rock star straight look!

American Idol Styles Hair – Iconic Hairstyles Rock

One of the most frustrating mistakes I’ve observed people making when it comes to styling their hair, is the wrong use of hair care product . . . or worse yet, no use of product at all! This usually stems from the person having used too much product in the past, and now believes they are better off to use no product at all. Does that sound familiar??  AAARRRG!! (If you only knew how much we hairdressers depend on our products to create great hairstyles!)

Anyways, thanks American Idol for a great show! Obviously the ‘bar has been raised’ this year and we’ve seen the added fun of American Idol styles hair!!

Shiny Hair Secrets

Shiny

Let Me Share Secrets to Shiny Hair with You!

Shiny hair can easily be attained when you take great care of your tresses and use hair shine enhancing products. I’m going to share all my shiny hair secrets with you so that you can have beautiful, glossy strands all the time.

Shiny Hair Secret #1

Wash your hair less often. If you are a compulsive hair washer (by compulsive, I mean daily), then stop now to regain shiny hair strands. Washing your hair too often robs your hair of its natural oils, which can then lead to dull, dry strands. If you can, I suggest washing every third day, but if that’s just too long for you to go, then try every other day instead. In between washings, you can use a dry shampoo to soak up excess oils and product. The one I like to use is Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo, with Oat Extract. It’s great because it helps soak up the greasies, leaving my hair soft and full.

Shiny Hair Secret #2

After you have shampooed and conditioned your hair, be sure to rinse out your conditioner with cold water. Cold water helps to seal down the cuticle, giving you smooth and shiny hair. As an added shiny hair bonus, use a deep conditioner once per week in lieu of your everyday conditioner. This will help your hair stay moisturized and, of course, shiny.

Shiny Hair Secret #3

The key to shiny hair during the styling process is all in the blow dry. Be sure to point the nozzle of your hair dryer straight down the hair shaft, which will smooth down the cuticle, giving it a more shiny appearance. Then, after styling each section, blast it with cool air (via your cool shot button on your hair dryer) for about 30 seconds. This will do the same thing that rinsing your hair with cold water does.

Shiny Hair Secret #4

Add shine to your hair with key shiny hair products. The products I’m talking about include shine sprays, serums and glossing products. If you have frizzy, dry hair that lacks luster, you MUST try, BioSilk, Silk Therapy by Farouk. This product has won countless awards and is highly regarded in the beauty industry. It can be used before or after blow drying, or both. As an added bonus, Silk Therapy, protects against UV damage, pollution and dryness. Just a few drops of this shine serum added to your hair will help infuse your hair with shine . . . and it smells great too! Just read what users have to say about it here.

A hair shine spray is a great option for those of you with fine hair. It’s lighter going onto the hair than a serum, which may weigh down your fine hair. I suggest Tigi’s BedHead, Headrush because the mist is fine and lightweight, leaving you with soft, shiny hair.

Now that I’ve shared all my shiny hair secrets with you, you’ll have gleaming, radiant strands from now on, right? Check back often and I’ll share more of my hairdresser secrets to better hair!
