Hair Sticks
Hair Accessories . . . A quick, no fuss hairstyle change

The last time you wanted a hair style change did you consider all the possibilities you have of changing it with . . . hair accessories?

I used to be more adventuresome in the art of using hair accessories to change the look of my hairstyle. I don’t nearly use as many hair accessories now, than I did back when . . . why is that? My hair was longer for one, (no excuse) and I was in the mind-set of offering clients suggestions on how-to change their hair style. In looking back on it, I miss the fun I had in changing my hair style in an instant.

Of course, we hairdressers relied on each other for the honesty factor, to alert us if we went over-the-top with our creative ambition. (A good idea to have a trusted friend when you start wondering if you’ve gone too far.) It’s hard to be objective about yourself.

Do you realize all the different hair accessories we actually have? I bet it would surprise you . . . barrettes, clips, hat’s, (my fave these days) scarves, hair add-on’s, combs, hair sticks, pins, scrunchies, jaw clips, wraps, headbands and I’m sure I’m forgetting some.

Anyway, I’m challenging you to find at least three new hair accessories, this year, you can use to change your look on a whim . . . when you just want to kick things up a notch or just need a change to make things more interesting! (If you can’t come up with just what that would be……ask your hairdresser to throw in some creative possibilities!)

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • Rhinestone barrettes – Glamour Goddess Jewelry– Best prices around for gorgeous barrettes!
  • Longlocks Hairsticks – http://www.longlocks.com/catalog.htm Pricey but . . . sooooo pretty! For weddings, proms whatever, they give some instruction in “how -to’s” when Rapunzel wants to put all that hair up!
  • A variety of hair accessories – http://www.folica.com/Accessorie_127_1.html If you have been following my series on “essential tools” you know how I feel about this site. They have some variety with their hair accessories, but are rated higher in my book for hair styling tools.
  • A fun way to go – http://search.ebay.com/search/hair-accessories_W0QQfclZ4QQfnuZ1QQ Something for everyone…..egads! I love the hats!
