Step 2:  Start by wrapping the hair half way up the strands with a 1″curling iron and work down to the ends-this creates big, soft, sexy waves and it give your hair lots of added dimension.

Step 3:  When finished curling, take a small section of  hair (1″or less) at the top right side of the head and braid. Secure the braid with a clear elastic band.

Step 4:  Weave the braid in and out of the curled hair, securing it with a bobby pin underneath the hair so it is hidden. There are no specifics in how you weave your braids though your curls, so play with it to find the look you like.

Step 5:  Repeat step 3 on the left side of the head followed with step 4. Mist with a finishing spray, to lock in the style. And, try a spritz of a shine spray for some extra added glamour!

Bridesmaids Hair Styles

Bridesmaids Hair Styles Braided Beautiful

Michelle asks:

I’m looking to find new, fashionable ideas for matching bridesmaid hairstyles? I went to a wedding last spring that all the bridesmaids wore updos that matched and it was beautiful! I’m having a semi-formal wedding this spring and I would love for the 6 bridesmaid hairstyles to match. They all have long hair. The theme is romantic and they are wearing pink chiffon strapless dresses.

Thanks, any ideas would be helpful!

Bridesmaids hair Styles make a big impact on the overall aesthetic harmony of a wedding. Considering the semi-formal mood for wedding hair, having matching bridesmaids hair styles will portray a sense of classy-sophistication at your wedding. Here is a great idea that not only comes straight from the spring 2011 runways of Paris and Milan, but it’s also easy to do!“Matching Bridesmaids Hair Styles”

Braids are so chic this year; you can’t go wrong bringing in some version of braided hairstyles to your wedding. Odile Gilbert, one of the worlds most sought after haute couture hairdresser, came up with this simple but elegant braiding technique for the spring 2011 runway show. She infused long strips of chiffon ribbons into braids and pinned them up. She said, “It’s really easy, anyone could do this at home if they wanted to.” I believe it!

Odile, lead hairdresser for Aveda, started with Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother and blow dried straight. She separated four sections of hair in the back and twisted a piece of fabric into each. Leave a little fabric out at the ends and tie them together into a bow. Twist the braids up and pin to the back of the head. She set the style with Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray.

I think for matching bridesmaid hairstyles, it’s hard to get prettier (or easier) than this! Thanks Odile Gilbert! For more great looks check out our Pinterest Wedding Hairstyles, Prom Hairstyles and Braid Boards.

Braids, Braids, Braids!!

Braids

Don’t overlook braids!

Melissa Stone, creative director for Sojourn, formerly creative director with Vidal Sassoon, created this stunning braids cover feature with photographer Karin Catt for American Salon Magazine July 2010 issue. “Braids Can Be Slimming” Most women I know won’t likely try to duplicate Melissa’s chic braid above, but braids come in every shape, size and style and there is probably more than one or two you could fashion, with just a little bit of effort and know-how. Melissa used a Mason Pearson brush to smooth the hair into a high ponytail. To get the beautiful smooth, shiny look, she braided it, smoothing it as she wrapped it with Sojourn Monio Oil Treatment.

Loose Side Braid

I love this loose side braid! Now, is such a perfect time to be wearing some of these new braids. Even if you don’t have long length hair, you can get the look with an extension. Just find a braid style or two you oooh . . . and aaahh . . . about and take just allow yourself a little bit of time to practice learning how to do it! These braids are worn loose and casual, perfect to wear on hot summer days to cool down and to combat the frizzies! Temple of Glam brings us this untidy side braid, inspired by Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2010: and created by celebrity hairdresser, Tippi Shorter.

  • Apply glossing cream to clean, damp hair to help prevent flyaways
  • Dry hair
  • Create a deep side part and direct hair to one side
  • Apply a conditioning paste/wax to mold hair
  • Start a French braid high on the head, keep it loose and casual by using three uneven pieces
  • Continue the side braid all the way to the bottom
  • Give the braid a slight shake to loosen it
  • Secure braid with clear elastic
  • Finish with shine spray

Easy Fishtail Side Braid

A fishtail braid (also called herringbone braid) is arguably the easiest braid to make. You basically work with two strands of hair instead of the basic three strands used for braiding. Then take a small piece from one strand and wrap it into the other strand and vice versa . . . but its way easier to watch a video on how to braid hair than try to describe it!

Boho Braids

Part hair on the side and French braid hair from part to behind the ear. Pin with crossed bobby pins behind the ear. This models beachy waves makes this boho braid perfect!
