Back to School Hair Style Tips

Have you thought about what to do with your hair? Maybe you haven’t but as your on-line hairdresser, I’ve been thinking of you – and what you will be up against. Back to school means you will have less time each morning to fuss over hair styling. You’ll need quick easy, no fuss hairstyle that hopefully will look great and be flattering.

So here are my tips for making the transition from easy-living summer hair, to back to school hairstyles.

    Keep it simple

Your hairstyle should work with your hair type not against it . . . end the battles and go with the natural grain of your hair. Unless you are very talented with styling your hair, you will find any big change will mean more time upfront on your hair styling routine each morning. When you’re pressed for time, this is stress you can do without. Save the new back to school hairstyle change till after you are into your new routine and are settled in. If you want to make a change, remember less-is-more. A small change can do wonders! Cut in bangs, grow out bangs, partial foil hair color, semi-permanent hair color.

    Back to School Hair Styles

    Get it Healthy

Summer can leave your hair, dry, split ends and faded from the sun. If you swim in salt water or a pool you need some TLC to get back to healthy, shiny, and more vibrant hair. If your hair is damaged looking, it won’t look good, no matter how much you spend for the right hairstyle.

    Try this Routine!

    • Use a clarifying shampoo, once a week if needed to rid your hair of product buildup.
    • Do a deep hair conditioning treatment, once a week, after clarifying. Use a shower cap or Saran wrap and towel to generate heat, leave it in your hair for at least 20 minutes in order to penetrate the hair shaft deeper.
    • Add moisture if you have dry hair, by using a good hair moisturizing conditioner or moisturizing leave-in hair conditioner.
    • Add protein if your hair is lifeless. That is a hair conditioner with collagen and elastin which adds a slight feel of thickness to the hair.

Learn 3 different ways to style your back to school hair style

By spending a little time spent up front learning just a couple new hair styling techniques, you will give your hair a break, save yourself time every day and get a reputation as being fashionable too! Too many women I see, assume the part of being hair styling impaired or just can’t visualize a different way of styling hair.

You will probably have a favorite way of hair styling, but by changing it around a bit, it won’t get old and tired looking. You will be seen as more creative too! At every haircut appointment you have, ask your hairdresser to show you a new way of styling your hair. Find your optimal style with the viagra effect. Make sure to get the styling hair care product recommendations at the same time. You don’t need to buy the hair salon product, however, you will need the same type of product to achieve that particular look for your hair type.

    • Learn how to use one new hair styling tool. Try a flat iron, different size curling iron, velcro rollers, hot rollers, rag rollers, bendy rollers, pin curls, roller brush iron, blow dryer with round brush attached, diffuser.

Learn to style with a product only and give your hair a break.

Try one of these: gel, spray gel, mousse, pomade, serum, curl enhancer, shine product, smoothing product, styling cream, root lifter, sculpting lotion, thermal spray, volumizer.

    • Learn an updo. If your hair is long enough, learn one new way to get a classic, casual, contemporary or elegant look and change your look totally and quickly. A hairdresser, who is into their trade, can help you out here. Your hair doesn’t need to be as long as you may think to do some of these hairstyles for school girls.
    • Learn to braid, they are back. Classes are given at my local Community Education, check it out in your area. The library is another source for learning to braid. Grab any teenage girl with long hair, she can probably WOW you with the back to school hairstyle possibilities.

    13. Hi!

I’m sorry to hear about your hair troubles. Let me try to help you!

The first thing that I suggest is to create a plan to get your hair and scalp in optimal condition. Finding a quality product that will help you resolve your problem with dandruff is the first step. Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree Shampoo is a wonderful product that is effective. Next, I would invest in a quality conditioner. A conditioner designed for your type of hair will help eliminate frizz. If your hair tends to be dry, I would also recommend using a leave-in conditioner to smooth your hair and add moisture.

Once your hair and scalp are healthy, start thinking about styling your hair. There are many, easy hairstyles that you can create. Check out this article to learn how to create simple hairstyles that are gorgeous enough to be worn to proms, but you can wear them every day!

Good luck! Hopefully you will start to have better hair days.

I cannot do ANYTHING with it except for put a hairband in it (sometimes that is aweful so i cannot do it) or leave it down (sometimes i cannot do that either) or put it in pony tail (but my hair goes frizzy on top) then all i can do is wash it and comb it and hope for the best! Any suggestions i could do? Im a aweful hair stylist and i cannot go anywhere to get my hair done. If you find somthing that actully works i will thank you so so so so so so much!

    15. Hi Emmi,

Frizzy hair is caused by a lack of moisture. Check out the article Hair Care Spring Cleaning for great ways to properly care for frizzy hair including a weekly deep conditioning treatment. A conditioning treatment will moisturize your hair and make it more manageable.

You said that your hair looks good wet. Have you considered the wet look? It’s really popular this year! Check out the hairstyle and tips on how to achieve it with Spring 2012 Hair Trends.

My hair is naturally straight but after taking a shower it gets pretty frizzy and very hard to deal with so I keep it in a ponytail. I’m starting high school next week and I have no idea what to do. I don’t want to go to the salon because it will get messed up easily. Any ideas?

Also, I want to be able to make it wavier, but all my attempts end with it looking poofy and big. Any suggestions? Also, I am not good at doing my own hair at all! I cannot do high ponytails, braids or buns, and curling my bangs is a pain in the butt…how do I get better?

    32. Well, I have medium blonde hair, which is very nearly dark blonde, shoulder-length fluffy and curly hair with a side fringe. Nearly everyone at school calls me old-fashioned or a boy (because they think I look like a man from 1970’s). I cannot straighten my hair because when I walk to school, the moisture in the air makes it all curly again. I tried a side bun, leaving my hair on one side, one-sided plait, normal bun, ponytail (eugh, i’ll never do that agin), and a side ponytail. I really hate my hair, I don’t like going to the hairdressers and I’m not allowed to dye my hair- PLEASE, I’LL BE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL TO RECEIVE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    44. Ok. I need some serious help. I’m 5’8 with broad shoulders, green eyes, not a big forehead at all, and just average in size for my height. My hair is medium brown, never been dyed or anything but cut, all one length, and comes about an inch pass my shoulders. I have side bangs also. It’s naturally really curly and poofy. All i have is a curling iron and straightner, so not much to work with. I’m tired of the same thing over and over again. Ponytail, straighted down, messy bun, scrunched. That’s it. I need something new to do with my hair. Something interesting. I have time, just not any ideas. I’m usually up for anything even if it’s odd, so give me anything. I need something new. Please.

do a side pony tail; comb ur hair over to the side thats more comfy and just tie it. do a half pony tail. do a messy bun. do a half pony tail bun. do a flip pony; make a loose pony tail and divide the hair right above where you tied ur hair, and flip the pony tail thru the little hole u made. just pin it with a barette. where two cute hair bands at once. do a hair band and a pony tail at the same time. u can do a really high pony, or a really high side pony. u can even do high or low pigtails, if u look good in it.

    55. Zoee,

Get to a pharmacy and try Rid X for the head lice first. Follow the instructions exactly.
Then try Selsun Blue shampoo for the dandruff. I believe you probably do have dandruff vs. dry scalp because dandruff has an unplesant odor.

If your drug store doesn’t have these products, ask the pharmacist, they will be able to direct you to something that will work.

The good news is you can get rid of both of these problems.
      Good Luck,

    59. I have a huge problem with my hair, Its ringlets from my ears down but they hang in a scraggy mess and make me look totally stupid! I’ve tried scrunching them twirling them and loads of different leave in things! nothing will work! its really annoying me, and whenever I straighten my hair it stays perfect for about an hour then goes wavey and looks a total state, I really want toget rid of frizz and have perfect ringlets, please help me asap!

    61. Hey, well i have a few suggestions for you… first off i think you should try to strengthen your hair… buy like a certain strengthening shampoo… so your hair can become stronger and less fragile. Also if you want your hair too be curly or wavy you should get a perm or permanently wave your hair or curl it. Do that at a hair salon or buy a do it yourself kit. To get it more kinkier you can try a volumizing shampoo or gel. mkay well hope that helped you out a little:) ttyl email me.
      bye bye

    62. Hi. I am an african american girl, with thick and kinky ,natural shoulder-length hair. I have a heck of a time trying to do anything with it .I would not like to use ANY heat in styling as it is guaranteed to break my hair ,plus, i am still recovering from when i used an heating iron a couple weeks ago(you should have seen me cry when all that hair came out). Im looking for a curly, wavy or even kinky easy style, but i want to avoid jheri curling seeing as my hair is so fragile. Can you please help me? Quick?
