    The Heavy Bang

Bangs are back!  These bangs may be a bit heavy for some, (round face shapes in particular) but for the rest of you, do not fear.  These bangs are straight and sleek creating an effortless, youthful look.  Sandra Bullock and Hilary Duff are two celebrities that rocked this hair style in 2011.

Are you thinking about getting a heavy bang? The trick to making these bangs look chic, is to leave the bangs long enough to cover your eyebrows but short enough to be able to see.  This is a high maintenance look which requires regular trims every one to two weeks. Most hairdressers will offer to trim your bangs for free in-between your regular haircut appointment. Or, check out this video on how-to trim your bangs.

They proved that these hair styles could be stunning and sexy as well.

If you are thinking about cutting off your long hair, this may be the perfect haircut for you. This hair style falls to the shoulder giving you a crisp look with a long hair feel. Do you want an insider tip?  Ask your hair stylist to undercut your hair slightly. This will help prevent the ends of your hair from flipping out when it grows long enough to hit your shoulders.

Haley Reinhart with long hair and spiral curlsSpiral Curls

Spiral curls were one of the most sought after looks in hair salons this year.  These curls look exceptional on long hair.  The weight of the hair is able to counteract some of the volume that spiral curls create.

Many women love the curly hairstyles recently worn by Taylor Swift, Zooey Deschanel, and American Idol’s Haley Reinhart.  You can get this look at home.  The trick is to alternate curling your hair forward and backward with a small curling iron.  This causes the curls to spring against one another creating a natural look that is full of body.

Halle Berry in a Pixie haircutThe Pixie Haircut

The pixie haircut is an edgy look that is perfect for confident women. This hairstyle pops with the combination of messy and defined pieces. Halle Berry, Keira Knightley, and Monica helped make this hair style look fresh and tempting.

Choosing a Wedding Curl for the Bride

    Wedding Curls for the Bride

How to Make a Good Wedding Hairstyle Choice

Here comes the bride!! Every woman across the globe dreams of what their wedding day will be like. The dress, the venue, the colors; all aspects of a wedding is considered in-depth because the day is so special! Every bride wants their hair to be perfect and try style after style, until that perfect wedding hairstyle is found. Curls of one kind or another, are often the go-to choice for brides, as they can make any woman feel sweet and romantic on their wedding day. However, it can be difficult for a bride to determine what type of curls to wear, so let’s go through the basics of making a great choice for your wedding curls.

Decide Your Style Considering Your Hair Type

First you will need to decide your style. Do you want to look romantic or sexy? Do you want a wild or more tame look? It’s important to consider the overall style and feel of the wedding to determine what type of hair style you will wear. When choosing your style, it is also important to consider your hair type. If you have long hair with medium or thick texture, then romantic curls work beautifully. However, if you have short, thin hair, this would be out of the question without using extensions. Take a close look at all these factors to determine the best option for your wedding curls.

    Up or Down?

Will you wear your hair up or down? You essentially have three choices;  up, down, or a half updo. To determine which option fits best, consider these questions:

    • Is your dress strapless?
    • Do you want to show off the neckline or back of your gown?
    • Are you wearing  jewelry pieces you wish to draw attention to?
    • Do you feel more comfortable with your hair down or up?

Try several hair styles, wearing your dress and jewelry, to help determine which option suits you best!

     Curl Type

Brides-to-be should also consider what type of curl will wear well and hold throughout their big day. Do you want a tight spiral curls or loose, cascading curls? Have you considered a perm curl or simple waves? There are many different types of curls that can be created so it is important to make sure that you choose a type of curl that woks for your hair type as well as style.

    Get To Work

Once you have chosen your style, up or down, you are now ready to get to work! Start a few months before your wedding practicing your style. Have your stylist or friends help you out if it’s not working right for you. You should  be sure that you are completely happy with the results. If not, you still have plenty of time to try out plan B, or other new styles.

    Stick With What You Know

This is an important step. You must know it’s not wise to dye your hair a different color, chop it off, or make any drastic changes to your hair, close your wedding. This has disaster written all over it. If you must do something to your hair, keep it simple. Or at least do it months before the wedding so you can let mother nature and your stylist, take care of any errors in judgement!

You can get curly hair without a hair dryerand create different styles at home. You can always stick close to your regular style and just amp it up a bit to feel more like yourself if you like.  Aim to be comfortable first, in your style choices for your wedding day, and you will be a beautiful bride naturally!
